Not as much as they would want you to believe

Depends on your current experience. In central London, I'd expect
anything from £25k+ (obviously, being an I.T. professional, you will
whore yourself about untill you get the pay/package you like)

I've done the NT4 courses at Learning Tree in London (Excellent
tutors, and the food is first class!!). I'm in the midst of a Win2k
course at the moment at Amraf (not bad).

When you are on the courses, make as many contacts as you can with
the other students, as it may be the best way of getting an 'in'.
Basically nearly all the agencies out there are bare faced liars (as
if I should've expected anything different), so don't think that it's
going to be a breeze and that you will suddenly gonna be earning £48k
coz it ain't gonna happen.
